Geoff Palmer
composer
  New concerto
New Music Concerts have commissioned Palmer to write a new concerto for the eminent Canadian flautist and composer Robert Aitken. The premiere will take place in Toronto in the 2010-11 season, alongside new work by Jonathan Harvey.

"It is a tribute to Mr Palmer's sureness of vision and the Sorrels' playing that this work was in no sense dwarfed by the works of Haydn, Mozart and Shostakovitch" (Roger Jones reviewing Cheltenham Festival performance of String Quartet No. 2: La Maestà)

"The string quartet clearly has a future, with people writing music like that for it" (letter from Julian Rushton, following a performance of String Quartet No. 4: after Haydn)

(Susanna Parikka, Lapin Kansa)
